It’s clear he has dug himself a hole he can’t get out of and the only solution he sees is to just keep digging until he comes out the other side. As @Bazzards says, it’s for his own people. Self justification that is fooling no one. It’s unfortunate we now have a someone like this who will not be willing to back down and so will end up destroying himself and Russia in the process.

So civilian satellites are a a 'legitimate military target' according to Russia, and yet when Ukraine hits the Kerch bridge they lose their **** and start crying like a little bitch.
If he targets western civilian satellites, then really the west can target Russian, and it allies civilian and military satellites because they are used to pinpoint western satellites. going by his own theory.

Funny they can't fight the Taliban, but willing to fight for Russia against Ukraine's.
Bit unfair. For years the special operations forces were just about the only effective fighting force in Afghanistan taking the fight to the Taliban. Many of them did fight hard even as the Taliban took over, but you have to ask is there any point fighting to the death when the whole country has clearly been sold out, and no one in the sham of a government has any wish to fight on?

They won't be in a particularly secure position in Iran, probably just trying to get by... This will only be a small proportion of them too.

they should know better to fight in a country similar to their own experience.

Those Afghans are just more meat for the grinder. They maybe amongst the best trained of the ANA, but when they were actively fighting in Afghan. they were backed up by our troops, our ISR, had the ability to call on our CAS and there was a functioning CASEVAC system. What do they have now? Nothing, that's what. They get pinned down by heavy fire in Ukraine they're not going to be able to call in a bomb run or a strafing run and if they get injured then that's it, the Russians will just leave them to rot where they fall.

I mean we're talking about a satellite swarm that goes up in batches of 50+ with a target of 10s of thousands. By the time Russia could make a dent in that they'd already be in deep poverty.

It'll be like fish in a barrel with Putin's new secret weapon, I seen it in a promo a few decades ago:

So Russia, who is unable to sustain a modern ground war without the support of Iran and North Korea, is talking about knocking satellites out of the sky.

Righty ho, never going to happen.

Talk about a megalomaniac with ADHD, I wonder what it will be next week.
it doesn't matter, the west would take out all the satellites of any country that helps the Russians.

If he targets any satellite there is a very good chance that ALL the satellites start going down very quickly, as the debris cloud from one will likely hit additional ones, then their debris clouds hit more, and very rapidly you end up in a situtation where there may be none up there and no way to put any more in place (or for them to last once up).

No matter how "carefully" you aim to disable one satellite you produce debris and you cannot model how every tiny bit will go resulting in a cascade of destruction and debris.

Watch Elon change his tune once he finally realizes what this means.

But to remind Russia... If they start blowing up satellites, this means they lose their capability also, as debris starts reeking havoc on other satellites and any future space missions.

To be clear any attack will be a declaration of war and will bring nato into Ukraine, so go ahead Russia

As for starlink, they have little thrusters on them that's supposed to help them avoid debris and objects flying through space but who knows how well it works on a missile

But the point is moot, Russia must knows that an attack on a Starlink satellite with a missile will start WW3 and be the end of the Russian army

That would depend on whether the comment is directed at Starlink or western satellites in general. Starlink operates in a much lower orbit than almost all other satellites so you could make a right mess of that low earth orbit and prevent Starlink from being viable without really affecting other satellites

Can't imagine China would be too happy if they were unable to access their new shiny space station due to Russia blowing up a few satellites.. I could imagine they would reconsider their position RE: Russia, quite quickly then.
Yup, bits of satellite falling to ground and destroying vital Russian and Chinese infrastructure isn't going to go down well either..
