Blatantly obvious he regrets it.

He believed his own hype, thought his military was so superior to Ukraine that they would surrender within 3 days, he boasted so much about it.

I have no doubt the plan was install a puppet government like Belarus and move onto Moldova and beyond to reform the old soviet Union.

NATO shipping billions into their war effort would have knocked him for six leaving a very badly maintained armour capability at the mercy of all the high tech weapons Ukraine now found themselves getting in by the thousands every day.

Yes he must regret reducing Russia to a third rate country and he will also be very aware a top floor window could be opening for him any time soon.

He definitely expected the West to look to its own self interest over Ukraine - the last few years has reinforced his perception the West was soft and weak and would descend into infighting before presenting a unified face against Russia. I suspect there are a few who've been sucking on Russian money, over promising what they could do in return in terms of influencing events in Ukraine and the West, who Russia was relying on in this situation as well who likely are now keeping their heads down.

My concern is I feel this will be another conflict sustained rather than "won"

Bitch, please! Everything they make for themselves is a joke and extremely poor quality. Go look up what their aircraft carrier looks like, then compare it to a US or even a UK one. It looks like it'll fall apart any second. They build buildings with hollow concrete and then wonder why so many fall apart after a few short years. They're quite possibly worse than the Russian military.

LOL. You know I was kinda being hopeful for them. I haven't read any reports of their military infrastructure, but Russia is so bad, it's kinda hard to be worse.
 
I suspect Russia attacking the grain ships will give them even more headaches if Turkey is one of the sponsors, Turkey could close the strait to all Russian ships wartime or civilian, which would hinder their ability to send freight into the med.
 
Would be real cool if Turkey could just put their navy in-between the ships and Russia so if they're especially stupid we can finally get some actual shock-and-awe on the go.
 
Calling Russia’s bluff on this one. Don’t shoot the ships, loses credibility. Shoots the ships, loses credibility. For a country obsessed with chess Putin wouldn’t be a good player.

It is a bit of an odd one, though some are saying Russia can supply enough of stolen Ukrainian grain + their own, the biggest recipients of the grain are countries with financial/security links to Russia, hence why Russia was even onboard with the grain deal. Though if it was exposing their security situation to much they might have no choice as they are obviously struggling with even basic measures.
