Russia now looking to recruit another 2 million to the cause, in with them 300 thousand women.

With winter now here and going to get much much worse how do they survive the cold?

They can barely give them bog standard uniforms so how do the get winter gear to them keep them alive in the trenches?

The 300 thousand recently recruited got rusty guns and paper thin bed rolls, what chance does the 2 million have.

Ukraine have allies giving them the proper gear, still be cold but at least they wont lose their toes or anything.

This could be good for the Ukrainian's a harsh winter may very well do the job for them.

But being honest whilst the Russian army and mercs can all rot in hell I can't help but feel a bit sorry for all these conscripts being sent to die. Die they must but its not a something I will take pleasure over.
unlike hearing about Wagner mercs and the likes.

There is a bit of a perception issue when it comes to this - for every instance of a Russian supplied with a decrepit POS gun which would likely explode the first time it was fired if it even managed that there are 100s if not 1000s with an OK state gun. Despite the stories about having to scrounge up uniform and/or relatives having to buy it from the likes of Wish, etc. they seem to be able to supply most of the mobilised with matching VKBO style at least as far as the trousers and 4 layer jacket and some kind of military issue shirt (though seems completely random as to what service style shirt is available) - though there are shortages of pretty much everything else, so claims of insufficient uniforms aren't wide of the mark, especially any real winter gear like the 8 layer ECWCS.

There are some odd shortages as well like water canteens seem pretty much non-existent.

Boots it seems they have enough to supply about 1 in 4 with the new style ones and 1 in 4 with what look like soviet era issue boots while the remaining half have to find something themselves or whatever they turn up in.

EDIT: Dunno if true or not but claims that some of the conscripts have been taken to firing ranges (inference seems to be civilian rather than military facilities), not given actual ammunition to shoot with but had to sign for the ammo they supposedly used and their relatives are billed for it!?!

EDIT2: I'm kind of surprised Putin hasn't doubled-down on the mobilisation already - though I guess there is a line they have to walk where even in Russia they couldn't push too far or too fast without people kicking back in numbers. He can't be far off now where his back is to a wall in this respect and the only option is a full industrial and man power mobilisation.

You draft the cannon fodder, and then tell them if they want a weapon, ammo and survival training they have to pay for it otherwise it's off to the front with a plastic air rifle, box of match for the cold and some adidas running shoes
 
you really believe during a wartime the country wouldnt just take the guns and ammo? but no instead they make soldiers buy their own stuff from hunting stores etc....

It's a form of information/psychological warfare and like any form of warfare is inevitable regardless of how exploitative or crass it might be. I think the issue with it is that it's happening all the time by everyone without even thinking about it, very insidious.

I mean.... The original video is fake by Putin. The 'mothers' are actresses, already proven as they appear in multiple other Putin propaganda videos in other roles. @arknor are you aware of this? So whilst I get the hate for meme culture on some level, I don't think I can even give one ounce of sympathy for this.
