Absolutely disgraceful by the Germans a d the hand tied EU but what do you expect, it has always been Germany 1st everyone else behind. The UK response has also been diabolical as well.

So Germany and the EU are going to be the reason the sanctions are far weaker than they should be, by the sound of it. Shameful.

Got a source? Not disputing it, just curious.

What's interesting with Germany is that it has very strong ties to Russia (or at least USSR) due to East Germany being in their sphere in relatively recent memory.

Only if you think you can win the war otherwise you are destroying the national infrastructure that your people rely on in a futile attempt to slow down one of the largest military forces on the planet which same said people will then land up paying to rebuild. The Russian military will over power as much of the Ukraine as they want in relatively short order and anyone who think otherwise is being naïve.

I don't think you've grasped the point at all, the Russian military can send troops into parts of Ukraine, holding vast chunks of it is another matter and destroying a bridge that a big column of enemy armour is in the process of using is a military no brainer... ditto to destroying an airfield you've had to retreat from, they weren't well prepared for it!

And again, these were bridges right next to Crimea it's quite possible Russia would seek to hold onto that territory regardless.

Honestly it's almost insane to be arguing that you'd be better off trying to save a bridge because it's infrastructure vs disrupting the flow of enemy armour into your country! These were bridges right next to Crimea FFS, that's not likely being handed back to Ukraine any time soon!

Please apply a grain of critical thinking.
Why and how would any russian unit with a working radio surrender when they have total control of the skies?

Please apply some critical thinking yourself - firstly familiarise yourself with what a platoon is! Why might they surrender... perhaps they were cut off from friendly forces... They're a small unit, a recce platoon, they operate in advance of larger formations. This isn't too hard to follow why they might be captured.

Some reports that they're feeling a bit disillusioned, I'd perhaps take these with a pinch of salt though it's worth remembering that back in Soviet times it wasn't uncommon for Russian troops from say the far East being sent to Hungary or (then) Czechoslovakia would be shocked to find that they weren't welcomed as fellow comrades/liberators upon arrival:

Any news outlet really, the appetite for sanctions varies wildly within the EU.

Boris could be blustering too, calling for serious sanctions safe in the knowledge the international community will never approve them.

I see funds starting up to support Ukraine, there's a patreon where you can subscribe to different levels for example. It's probably too late but I could see Ukraine recieving millions in donations. Wonder if this will have any significant effect.

Nuclear weapons are way off in the future.

Putin has however imprinted on the West that when the Russian military starts training for something, it is an ominous sign of things to come.

A nuclear bomb test on Russian soil before his next big move would be a concerning thought.

Surely not? It's a UNION, one for all, all for one. Some dissent you say? Wouldn't want to be a part of such a union which when tested immediately falls apart. How did I vote, oh yes, that's OK then ;)
