Random trigger.

Why linking Ukraine with your xenophobia? Why not our skills shortage, or our tax dodgers? People failing to educate themselves out of menial work, and people dodging tax cost this country far more than your pet hate.

Xenophobia is the best you can respond with. There was no hate in my post. It was a perfectly reasonable comment. You types cannot be reasoned with sadly.

Surely anyone who cares about genuine refugees, would be concerned about people abusing the system who are not genuine no?

Government in “out of touch” shocker

Not necessarily.

If landlords could get a fair rate from a government scheme they would prefer the lower risk option and kick out renting voters onto the streets. The closer the rate is to the rental market the faster this would occur.

As it stands this covers the "inconvenience" of renting out a room and sharing the facilities. The government is focusing on the temporary nature of this event and knowing that people will be transitory. The government don't want people getting addicted to the handouts too. It also places an emphasis on the home owner to interact (through shared cooking spaces, lounge etc) to integrate better. Only that idea gets shot down as landlords will stack and rack Ukrainian families purely to get the payout.

So with this in mind - this is more of "rent out your rooms" than rent a full property. Great for those rich people that have more rooms to throw a stick at (especially after the trend to home working now means any 'idle' rooms are consumed "hybrid working" without being reimbursed by employers).

This smells of Patel being dragged face down by the foot with vampire nails and teeth scratching the cement, hissing all the way..

It's people who struggle to process common sense and hard facts that means we're currently in energy crisis with very little to fall back on.

We're now very badly placed to deal with actual refugees because we're dealing with the problems they've created.

I'm sure you're a real humanitarian and the plight of refugees keeps you awake at night

The actual refugees yes. The economic migrants, masquerading as refugees, therefore now blocking actual refugees, no.

I'd suggest that you note the majority gender and age of Ukrainian refugees compared to the current crop.

I am afraid it is indeed impossible to argue with the mysterious Garnett. He is brainwashed into believing preferring some races or countries of origin over others is the ultimate sin.

One has to presume that in the supermarket he randomly sweeps items into his trolley rather than choosing his preferred foodstuffs, blindfolds himself and sticks a pin in a map to choose his holiday destination, and asks car salesmen to just choose a vehicle off the lot for him. Just in case accusation of freedom of choice and preference reared their dreadful heads.... ;)

He speaks of others' ignorance in the most condescending ways, yet displays it himself by failing to logically understand why it's human nature and inconsequential to have preferences about races and countries of origin. Like from many, the words racist and xenophobe are spat from his keyboard, (but almost certainly not actually mano a mano from his lips), without thought or reason, in that brainwashed belief they are the ultimate words of condemnation.

Faulty logic, unfortunately (but unsurprising). Someone can care about refugees, while recognising that abusers of the immigration system aren't worth worrying about as much as other more costly reprobates.

Your hate is clouding your judgment.

Ugh. Another one's been triggered.

Clearcut must be *thrilled* to be supported in this by someone who proudly self-identifies as racist.

Fix this conundrum. The Ukrainians are sending all their women and children to safe countries whilst their fighting age men stay and defend their country. The only places we have for these poor women and children, is hotels already full of fighting age men who have abandoned their countries and families and their religion teaches them that women and children are possessions to take.

**Slow clap.** Well done you lot, well done.

If someone thinks you're xenophobic for opposing illegal migration there is no reasonable discussion to be had.

It's not illegal to seek asylum.

So, with the government encouraging the public to take in refugees/setting up a sponsorship scheme is anyone going to?

At a paltry £350 per month? That might tempt low income earners, but they're not really in a position to take refugees. It should be £500 per month, tax free.
