There is a difference between weapon of choice and the weapon you have left.

Thousands of destroyed and almost thousands of captured russian vehicles in a very short time are evidence that actually no, artillery was not ever the weapon of choice.

It is the one that is left.

More importantly, the vehicles which have been destroyed in their thousands are the ones which have their production shut down from lack of foreign parts. This greatly undermines what you say that russia is capable of being militarily self sufficient. Artillery is neither being devastated or as difficult to replace as a front line tank.
What has caused the destruction of infrastructure and cities? It's all about the artillery, that isn't going away anytime soon.

None of that detracts from the fact that they are food and energy secure, the biggest casualty of the sanction war will be the working classes all across Europe this winter.

Mr Watling says Russia is also pursuing economic and political levers to inflict as much damage on Ukraine as possible. While Russia's economy is taking a hit from Western sanctions, Ukraine's is likely to suffer even more.
Russia's GDP is expected to shrink by 12% over the next year, but Ukraine's GDP could fall by 50%. Russia's blockade of the Black Sea is causing significant damage.

Mr Watling says continuing Western economic, as well as military, support could prove crucial. Will the public's interest in the war wane the longer it goes on - just as it did after 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea and Russian-backed separatists first seized parts of the Donbas?
Western governments now also have to worry about their own domestic challenges, including rising inflation, gas and oil prices and a cost of living crisis - caused in part by the war.
When winter approaches it will be harder for armies to fight. It may also prove more difficult for the world to weather an economic storm.

I‘m surprised that the U.K. hasn’t supplied any Milan anti-tank weapons as that kit must have reached its “best before” date by now.

Still an effective system against IFVs, but it takes three blokes to move it and the operator is very exposed to return fire whilst guiding the missile to the target.
2 soldiers to operate Milan - the missiles only have a 10 year shelf life, any we had will have long expired and been disposed of.

I think the French did, we supplied some Javelins (it’s replacement).

Biden speaking up about Taiwan is it flaring up again

Biden says China 'flirting with danger' over Taiwan

Wall Street journal did an interesting video about computer chip production and how if Taiwan was invaded it would tip the world into a recession as we'd lose the supply from Taiwan and maybe China if we imposed sanctions.

It would make the current chip shortages look insignificant and while we are trying to encourage production to come back to the West it will take decades to do so.
