Ordered one last week, should be here on Friday,

I can confirm 6950 will be considerably more than these 5870's, so yes these are a bargain at sub £200. :)

When will this offer expire? I'm looking to upgrade from a X1950XTX even though it's a PCI-E 1.x motherboard. Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe.

The PCI-E 1.0 isn't a serious bottleneck for these cards, however you will most likely be CPU limited by any socket 939 chip when running a HD 5870.

Yeah I know regarding the 939 chip (X2 4600+) but I'm planning on replacing other parts in the near future. The biggest problem I'm facing with a X1xx series at the moment, no new driver updates. I'm currently sitting on drivers that are over a year old plus fps hits on some older games (add-on mods) as well as new games at 1920x1080. Even things like Photoshop CS5 for the 3D part is telling me OpenGL isn't supported (you need to update drivers or may have to replace the graphics card) as it's blanked out due to this.

If I can get a fps boost for racing games, I'd be more than happy for a while.

Is the "delivered" option only for established forum members or something as it's in my basket with £9 shipping... boo! :p

Yes, you have to have been a member of the forum for a while unfortunately! There is a link to the details in the top right corner of the page under the promotional banner.

Hi All

I have a sapphire 5870 1gb vapor x card. I have never crossfired a card before, could i use this or would i need another vapor x? also would my corsair 650w power supply manage this crossfire setup with a gigabyte ex58 ud3 and an i7 920?

Great price OCUK, great price, can you gift wrap them :)

Cheers for the info... what forum do I go to to spam random crap to increase my post count!? ;)

On Topic - can you pair this with any 5870? Been a while since I dual-carded (8800 GTXs).

I'm no expert but I think you might just be pushing it there with that psu if you went xfire, especially if the cpu is oced to ~4ghz(if it isn't, why the hell not?). not sure but don't see why you shouldn't be able to use another card other than a vapour-x.

Ah well, hope the family understand why they're not getting any christmas presents! :D Except maybe my old 4870s :)

Thanks for the awesome deal, OCUK!

Do you lot just sit and look at your computer rather than actually use it? Who cares what colour it is or what it looks like - The cooler will do its job.

Its a bargain price!

Reference

Need to know if this is a reference 5870 before I take the plunge.... Any ideas?

Reason being my misses uses Mac all the time and I want a serious gaming rig for the new online star wars game, hence I,m attempting a dual boot windows 7 hackintosh system... A reference card will produce much less headache!

The other xfx card On offer isn't reference, so I've read and didn't get great reviews.

Thanks for your help.

Mark

It looks like people are getting different version of the card. Some reference and others with the larger central fan.

Tempted to drive up and maybe pick up reference one...not sure if OcUK would be happy with that tho!;)
