Hi guys,

Just before XMAS I had some touch up work done to the mondeo, then it got nailed by a van so was bloody pointless and a waste of money!

Anyway, my mate at the body shop gave me some alloy wheel cleaner to use when i next washed the car. Because of the crash I never got round to cleaning it ever again :(

Anyway, my Dad needed some screenwash in the Audi so I bought some for him from Halfords. There 5l stuff in a blue bottle. It's only a couple of quid.

Well the stuff my mate gave me at the bodyshop looked and smelt similar. So I asked him and he assured me he gave me wheel cleaner.

The other day I had two of the alloys off of the Mondeo.

I cleaned one with alloy cleaner and one with a 50/50 mix of screenwash and water.

Sprayed it on from the squeezy bottle. Left it for 10mins or so then pressure washed it off. Did this twice to each wheel.

They came up exactly the same, both look brand new and all of the stuck on brake dust has gone.

500ml of dedicated wheel cleaner costs about £8 in a squeezy bottle.

This screen wash would make 20times that amount and costs about £5. A squeezy bottle is about £1.

If anybody tries this then let me know.

Cheers,

Chris
