Ultra Slim 80mm Case Fans? [RESOLVED]

Hi, i have a sagitta II case and a True 120 inside, however the location of where the case fan should go is obstructed by a few cm's, but not by to much.

The problem is the housing on most 80mm fans are to big to fit between the heatsink and side case. I was wondering if anyone knows of where i could find a slim 80mm fan?

Cheers

i dont think its possible, ive measured the gap and its about 15mm between the side case hole too the heatsink, most 8cm fans ive seen are chunky.

Any suggestions please let me know :)

I just ordered a hyper fan its 80mm x 80mm x 15 mm

I cant link to you as its from a competitor rather annoyingly OCUK sells the mini-itx case I wanted but doesn't stock any compatible cpu coolers or fans :/

look at the first pic in that thread, I had to go off the pic as well. I thik its called a hyper transparent.

this is the model number I ordered http://www.hipergroup.com/products.php?lv=3&cate=15&type=17&pid=42

paid £3.81 for it :)

ahh thanks, i will take a look. Its been hard looking for one. The problem is the sticky out screw things on the true get in the way, at the moment where the case fan should go is a empty space.

Cheers mate ;)

Was looking for a fan that size before. I had an e-mail from OCUK say they don't stock 80x15mm fans, only 80x25.
There are a few that do, just google 80 x 15mm fan.

Hi Op

Just bought one of these to mod a Flexatx (or some'mat small and non-standard!!) PSU:
NMB-MAT 80x15mm Thin (3106KL-04W-B50-C00) - Sleeved
Performance-PCs will ship to the UK. They not a direct OcUK competitor so I can link to them as well!!

NMB fans have a longer life than standard ball-bearing fans (but only +10,000 hours for this particular model).

My advice is don't mod. any fans (from bitter experience ) - look to mod. what ever is sticking into them!! Alternative heatsink perhaps?? You've got to think out-of-the-box to solve these kind of problems...

unless i went water cooling, i wouldnt benefit changing the TRUE, it has a push/pull config and rear 120mm fan at the back of the case, taking it out for a diddy 80mm fan would not benefit, unless i went water cooled.

Thanks for the link aswell.

Only problem is ive measured again the gap between the side case slot, and the screws on the side of the true, and its 14mm :o

and from the link you posted and oxy, i think 15mm's is the absolute smallest fan you can get :o

The lack of pictures of your rig is hampering our ability to help you!!

You can get 80mm(2) x 10mm fans but they are s***. Not enough blade surface area. The ol' TMD fans where really nice but that never got off the ground (I think because the case of the fan could get linked to the 12V powerline due to a design flaw). I have a couple. They are 70mm(2)x10mm I think - good airflow/not too noisy :D

If your heatsink exhaust fan is blowing straight at the case fan (that won't fit in the gap - between the case and the heatsink exhaust fan)... The obvious thing in that situation is to not use a case fan al all!! If it did fit in it would only seriously impede the airflow out of the case anyway (80mm fans are s*** compared to 120mm fans)... Just put a grill over the hole to tidy it up...
