Ultrasound scan - how long is normal for results?

One of my software programs at the hospital is called Syngo Pacs and as soon as an image is taken anywhere in the hospital I can see it on the screen.
Reports take a lot longer before they end up on the CRIS system though.

Its much faster as an inpatient. A doctor has to highlight to a radiologist that the scan needs reporting. So if you are able to get a doctor to do that it should be no problems. Its difficult to say how to do that without knowing why the scan was done in the first place, but if it was something that urgent your GP would have referred you to a specialist or told you to go into hospital.

But if you are that worried just tell your GP. If your GP refuses to request the report, go to the hospital you had the scan at and tell them you want the report.

The people who are very keen and physically ask for things in hospital are usually the ones that get stuff done for them the fastest. Its just how the system works unfortunately. Those that kick up a fuss have things done for them before anyone else.

I would normally advise people 10 working days on average for the trust I work in. Especially if it was marked urgent. And for the guy who said GP's write urgent for your benefit only this isn't true. If I request a scan as urgent I expect it to be treated as such and will join a different queue in the department.

Radiology is like an assembly line and the people taking the images might not be the ones reporting on them.
Obviously A&E images need to be seen and reported immediately.
One part of my job is to get the XRay schedule of a patient from CRIS and to PDF out every report for each image and you'll be amazed how many are not reported on however there should be an entry within the Hospital Notes.
Like heeeed above, when I request an image I'm also put near the top and they arrive on a passworded disk.
