I set a CHKDSK via my computer to check my C drive next time I reboot, but when I do I get a message "windows can not open the volume for direct access". I had a look on MS website and come across this;

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q160654

This only affects my C drive, not any of my other drives. I cant think what program I have installed that could be causing it? I use diskeeper for defragging and tried disabling that but I get the same message, I have no AV/spyware programs installed.

Does anyone have a clue what it could be? :(

No probs. I often get that with PerfectDisk or something. Normally if I need to run a chkdsk and it won't run properly I just restart and boot into Safe mode. Whatever it is doesn't run then, I find.

When it fails to run chkdsk, doesn't it ask you if you want to schedule a boot time check for the next boot?

Did you read my original post properly?
