Under 21 Premier League / Reserves Football

Saints u18's today beat villa u18's 3-2 after an enthralling game!

We went 2-0 up in the first half, they came back to make it 2-2, hit htem on the break to make it 3-2 :D

Our team was a bit light on players and with one of our strikers down in the last 15 mins our reserve goalie had to come on to put in a professional out field performance up front :)

Tonight the games are:

Reading v Everton
Blackburn v Bolton
Newcastle v Southampton
Chelsea v Liverpool

Could be a good set of games, might tune in to the Chelsea v Liverpool one to see what Marin is like.

Need to keep an eye on Newcastle vs Saints, Jack Cork is up there to regain match fitness :) (though it means he wont be playing tomorrow)

Young Sammy Ameobi is playing too for the toon. A real handful!!! Sounds like a good game in store

Hope you didn't tune in just to watch Marin because he was rubbish. Liverpool on the other hand were very impressive - finished 4-1 and could/should have been more.

Our new youngster Yesil missed a couple of decent chances but his general play and movement were exceptional for a player of his age.

Final score Saints u21's 1 Newcastle u21's 0 :D

Sam McQueen with the only goal from 18 yards out.

the kids are unbeaten in 4 which is good going

Nay I didn't in the end - got caught up with packing as I'm off moving tomorrow.

All those goals were in the last 20 mins as well werent they?

About that, yea. For the first hour or so I thought I was watching our first team play (minus the mistakes at the back thankfully) and then the goals flew in.

No posts in this thread since Liverpool hammered Chelsea in September? Liverpool - Chelsea are playing again on LFC TV (free on sky 429).

It's just approaching HT and we're 2-0 up (a 3rd wrongly ruled out for offside too) but tbh, it's not been as one sided as the previous game was.

edit: we scored a 3rd straight after the break and were seemingly cruising but within 10 or so minutes Chelsea have pulled it back to 3-3.

Darron Gibson played 63 minutes today, so hopefully he might be able to play some part against Norwich.

It's interesting to see how typical reserve players fare in first team football. Your "Reserve Player of the Year" is currently one of the outstanding players in League One this year despite having only played one competitive first team game before joining us!

Spurs under 21 are in prolific form at the moment, would like to see Alex Pritchard take the step up to first team. Quality player.
