Underdrive Pulleys

From what i can gather, these are pretty popular in the US, and if the wiki is to be believed, give fair gains in power for a relatively minimal level of work.

thing is, having looked at the specs for a hell of a lot of heavily-tweaked motors built over here, they dont seem to have any impact at all in the UK market, and i was kind of wondering why this is.

cost and performance id say. ive looked into it. they probably cost £100-£200, only provide 1-2bhp gain, can be difficult to find the belts for.

generally the US is a lot more into the proper aftermarket scene, weekend engine swaps, turbo jobs, auto crossing, etc. it just isnt the same here!

Hardly worth it IMO. If you're making much more revs than stock and your waterpump is likely to start cavitating or your dynamo is going to get shagged by the extra rpm there's no point. Alternators can take the added revs and will sap just as much power as they will try to make more current at the lower revs.
