Which to choose!

Strathclyde University (Glasgow)
Dunde University, Duncan Of Jordanstone (Dundee)

I have conditionaloffers for architecture from both of these and dunno which to choose (both want C in maths dundee also want C in art.) .
Depending on who I speak to both have good reputations. Ive been to both and the facilities are roughly the same. The studios are pretty much the same the PC facilities are similar strathclyde has a better independant departmental library but a small workshop dundee has a good art school based library and huge workshop. I like glasgow and live quite close so I know it reasonably well. Dundee is much further away and is an unknown. not that this is a bad thing.

Can anyone offer any advice and experience and confirm that the above assesment is about right?

I would chose Strathclyde, It is better recognised for engineering degrees (I know architecture isnt really a engineering degree, but it is a better known university.

I went to Dundee Uni for my computing degree and had quite a few friends at Duncan of Jordanstone, they seemed to love it there. The nightlife isn't as varied as Glasgow but it's still pretty great. Really friendly city, not too big and only an hour by train from Glasgow if you do get bored.

cheers guys
wanted some unbiased opinions as I thought my gf, who is going to glasgow might be hampering my objective judgement.

Im a bit of an art nut so i was driftin towards dundee, they were the only place to interview me aswell.

I had to read the thread title twice when I seen this thread! Im in almost the exact same position, same Uni's but I'm doing civil engineering. I live closer to dundee, its an OK city, but I dont really know Glasgow, kind of leaning towards strathclyde though because people tend to say its better for engineering, but dundee is rated top for civil engineering in Scotland... Decisions decisions!

I know its nuts I have a conditional for civil engineering at strathclyde too, not that ill be taking it but its a good uni currently/soon to be undergoing some major work to the civil engineering building though. How did you find out the ratings for the unis?

I know a few people now doing architecture at Dundee and they seem to be enjoying it but I don't know too much about the specifics of the course.

As for the city, Dundee has a bit of an undeserved reputation as a slightly scummy place to live. It is small compared to Edinburgh and Glasgow but I'd call that a good thing, it allows you to get to know the city quickly and also to get known if you want. Lots of good pubs, a reasonable nightlife with Fat Sams and London as probably the biggest night clubs but there are another 5 or 6 I can think of off the top of my head, 2 pretty decent students unions(Dundee is still the better even after Abertays new one being built).

Dundee is a bit of a pain in the neck to get to Glasgow from though on the train as you end up doing almost a dog-leg but other than that I'd recommend Dundee pretty highly. I am from Edinburgh originally so I do know a little about 'big' city living and I've enjoyed Dundee greatly, it helps if you like going out as otherwise activities can seem a little sparse.
