unis that pay for windows, whats it called?

just wondering what its called when a uni pays for a windows license?

i ask as i may be getting vista soon and i am going to college in september but donig a hnd which is supposed to be similiar to the uni courses and gets the same things uni courses get so i want to email the college asking if they do this before i go buy something i will get a better version of in a few weeks for free.

Yep, one at Reading is called MSDN Academic Alliance. :)

Indeed, the MSDN:AA (Microsoft Developer Network: Academic Alliance) program is for large educational institutions and will license students in specific courses e.g. engineering comp sci etc.

You can check whether your uni participates here. Ignore any that don't have a link to the right of it. Chances are, unless you're doing computer science, your uni wont be part of it. If it is though, click the link to the right of the name, then click software and you can see what you'll be able to download.
