Unreal Tournament 2007 Gameplay Footage

Very smooth gameplay. There was the odd pause when they entered vehicles, but it was minor. Liked the hoverboards and the double pistols. Looked quite team oriented as the buggy had two passengers and the big transforming tank at the end looked like it had about 3 passengers. There was also some sort of energy weapon the team joined together to power with pulse blasters.

I was trying to figure out how it was being controlled and by the smoothturns left and right I thought it was a controller as opposed to a keyboard or mouse (I think this game is gonna support both).

Looked bloody awesome, like UT2K4 but with some nicer weapons and obv graphics, those hoverboards looked great, good for when you dont have a vehicle... Those deathwalkers and the big tank at the end both looked awesome :D

Though i like the look of the game it seems to be a case of same game better graphics. :o

It isn't the game that matters, it's the versatility that Unreal engines bring.

You can't get simpler than the deathmatch snorefests that were UT and UT04. You don't have to play the new gametypes, you know :p

Serious question, and NOT an attempt at bashing... so please, dont jump the gun.

In all seriousness, why would you buy a fast paced FPS like this in stead of the PC version.

Because system spec thing, just better for you to get a console?
Because you prefer to slow it down, and not in the mood for the "more hardcore" competitiveness?

Because i dont want to spend £400 on a grx card to be able to play it the way its meant to be played

Believe it or not people can actually get pretty good with a 360 controller on fps these days. Ok it will never be quite as good as with a mouse / keyboard but it's not as far off as you might think.

With everyone having to play with the same controller you also level the playing and as it's a closed system you know you won't be playing against people with exploitative graphic mods.

Also as I don't have an uber PC any more; just a 360 and basic Vista laptop my choice of which playform to buy it for (if I do) is made for me :)

Also... I'm kind of used to playing on a 32" LCD screen sat back on a sofa with 5.1 booming at me these days and going to back to being scrunched up over a desk staring at a 17" screen would be such backwards step ;)

Many years ago when I was at college, we had quake1 put on the network. From that point on all we did was play quake.

From day one I was one of the best players, at the time I was only using the keyboard, no mouse. I was almost unbeatable. My friends who were using kb/m at the time could not understand how I was always winning. They had the better aiming device. I won down to a few things:

An excellent knowledge of the levels
An excellent route through the levels.
Weapon and power-up dominance
But most importantly I had years of practice playing how I played. I was as able to pull off a shot as they were and far more accurate.

At this point I looked at using the mouse, as I recognized that I was limited in my strifeing ability, the mouse would correct this. After a week or two of kb/m play I was the undisputed quake champion of the college. Completely unplayable. So much so that my friends would not play with me unless I used my left hand for the mouse, sadly for them it made little difference to the outcome.

What I am saying is you can be a great player without being an accurate player.

I don't want to speculate the level of FPS gaming I would be at if I had continued to play on the PC. But I imagine it would be quite high. Maybe if ADSL had come out a few years earlier I would have still been playing PC Fps games.

Oddly enough though I always felt there was something in the controller that would be brilliant for FPS games. I remember playing doom on the PS (I have owned that game on every format I have owned) and thinking, "You know there is something to this, there are a few improvements that could be made, but if that happens this will give the KBM a run for its money".

When Halo came out and I played it on the xbox. I knew that the controls and the controller in my hand were perfect for the console variants of this game, it more than annoys me when FPS games vary from the default halo control system.

Bit of a tangent I know. But I thought I'd say my piece.

Makes me want to flog my Pc and get a 42" Plasma - Shame I couldn't actually go through with it.....

I see both your points, and to a certain degree , agree with them... apart from the controller being not far off.

There is also the rumour that the PS3 will allow Kb/M support, just awaiting official confirmation though.

TBH i see your point, but not from the respect it is a fast paced deathmatch game, Resistance does very well at that type of game with the controls etc.
But some folk would need to run it either as a slide show (so not fast paced) or looking like a dx7 game, so they would be aswell playing UT.

The one thing that would sway me towards the PC version is the modding comunity. It was the modding that made UT, but with the consoles you really wont get that. Not wanting to start a fanboy war here, but there seriously is more chance of the PS3 getting a mod editor than the 360. But even then it is still a slim chance.

Aye, you're probably right re. mod editor on the PS3 but in all honesty I can't see either console getting one both MS and Sony would prefer to see some revenue from downloadable content.

I'm still of the belief that not allowing keyboard and mouse on the 360 is a good thing neutralising the playing field. That being said the MS strategy of bringing PC and 360 gamers together removes this neutrality so they might as well. (Though there will be the option to just play just 360 owners and vice versa so you at least get to pick).

Might well be, BUT the console version will surely be "slowed down", because it will grossly be unfair to console gamers, who do not want to buy a kB&M just for one game, and those who do... have a competitive advantage, which is not the case in higher vs lower spec PC's playing against eachother.

PS3 UT3 is cross compatible with PC UT3. Neither will be slowed down for the other. There are faster paced console games than UT you know. Battle Creek deathmatch on Halo 2 will tell you that.

There is a competitive advantage to having a higher spec PC though.
Clearer picture, higher resolutions, farther draw distances.

And yeah i agree with smcshaw, i think they will want money for DLC, but i can live in hope :D
