When a part is offered as 'untested', does this mean:

a) This part is untested - I am unable to test this part I am afraid (This is what is written in most of the auctions of this type)

b) This part is completely broken but I am a crooked moron so I'm going to con you into thinking its just untested so the risk becomes yours, hahaha

Indeed.

Just seems to be the latest craze, wondering if it was the new way of flogging faulty junk or whether people genuinelly had no way of testing things...

Where ebay is concerned...

...is always true.

It's been happening for years with computer bits.

Hmm Risk vs Reward, at that price its a hard call no doubt its going to be around £200 come auction end, think i'd pass.

Private or business sale? If it's business it's worth a punt, if it doesn't work just return it under DSR ;)

If its been sold as not tested or working, hows that going to work?

You can return items for any reason at all within 7 days under the DSR, as long as the seller is a business.

Well that's the risk. You can't tell if someone's honest or not over the internet, not for sure anyway. If it's local you could go along and pay cash and have a gander first, but most of the time it wont, and that won't really work with electronics.

Even if its sold as faulty or non tested you can return it for erm having a fault?

Didn't think DSR came into it, sold as advertised.

You can return it for a full refund just for fun if you want to under the DSR, as long as you're buying from a business.

Although I'm pretty sure the DSR only applies to eBay Buy it Now listings, not auctions.

I wouldn't count on the DSR anyway. The seller may state 'no refunds' and it'll just be a pain in the ass getting it sorted out, even if the law is on your side. I'd say most 'untested' parts are private auctions anyway.
