Up to 100Mb broadband -Get it NOW

what are the restrictions??

It depends on whether or not you're in an upload-enhanced area yet.

If not, see here:
http://shop.virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management/traffic-management-policy.html

If so, see here:

Find your UBR here, then check it against the UBR upgrade list here.

Basically, the only management applied to 50Mb users in areas that have not yet received the upgrade is for P2P / file sharing traffic, and is during the hours of 17:00 and 00:00 on weekdays, and 12:00 - 00:00 on weekends. I.e. you can rinse iPlayer all day and never be managed on 50Mb in a non-upgraded area. You can P2P as much as you like outside of these hours and never be managed. The restriction will be the reduction in speed of P2P-related traffic, though I don't think it says exactly by how much they throttle it.

If you're in an upgraded area, it's similar except they have introduced an upload cap between 15:00 and 18:00 of 6GB, at which point your upload rate is reduced by 65% for five hours.

This does not clear up the question of whether or not 100Mb will be upload-managed in a similar way that 50Mb users are in upgrade-enabled areas. I'm not sure whether there's any information on this yet.

Dunno, is it? How much do you download and when? What is your monthly disposable income? Are you constantly frustrated by the slow speed of 10Mb P2P downloads? What are your main activities on the internet? How many people are there sharing your connection and what do they do on it? Etc...

down load movies sometimes, music watch videos on line play computer games and do the forums. theres only two of us but i sometimes have two internets on the go. its only £10more

It means you 'might', but I don't see why it means you 'should'. Or do you have some information about Virgin promising a download-linked pro rata price structure .

Well I've emailed Virgin Media asking to be put on their new bundle price. Long term customers should see more benefits than new customers.

just calling them now to see if i can get a reduction!

nope as i already have an offer that gives me £23.44 reduction the £20 reduction in broadband price would not cover this and i would loose that permanent special offer i have!

Ah, I see why. :p

I only pay for 50Mb and line rental = £45. The exact same bundle for new customers is £35.

Can you not phone up and query why you're paying more than a new customer would? I've done this before and got a reduction in my bundle, it's worth a shot!

Yeah I managed to get switched to the "new customer" price last year by calling Virgin Media and asking about it. Telling them the prices of competitors' offerings also seems to help (in this case, BT Infinity Option 2 being anywhere between £33 and 37 depending on who you get line rental from). :D

yeah i've just phoned to check too and i get £17pm discount so i get a better discount than if they matched the price.

paying £46 for 50mb + M-TV + Line rental + Talk Anywhere 200.

to get 100mb in March (when Dudley is upgraded) it'll only g=cost me an extra £12pm. :)

SO I just phoned up and whined a bit at them for not having new uploads or 100Mb yet, and said I'm gonna dump the whole thing and just keep 10Mb Internet service.

They are now giving me 50MB, TV M+, Phone line with Talk Evenings and Weekends, all for £31.00 and no new contract :D

Score!
