Currently have my PC plugged into an old, a very old, Sony stereo (a LBT-D305 in case anyone is interested) that I bought new nigh on 30 years ago and that has served me well. However, it's now showing signs of being on it's last legs and in need of replacing.

I'm thinking of grabbing a SMSL SA-50 and a pair of Wharfdale Diamond 9 speakers. Does anyone have that set-up and if so are there any issues with that pairing? No soundcard by the way, just straight from the audio jacks on the back of my motherboard (ROG Strix X470-F).

Wharfedale 9.0's are great inexpensive speakers and the SMSL SA36 or SA50 is a great way to power them without spending a great deal, and takes up very little space.

I have a similar setup, except with a Topping amp and Roth speakers.

Motherboard audio will be certainly good enough, as long as there are no interference issues.
