Hi all with the new Battlefield coming out soon i think i need to upgrade some of my specs as some of the games I'm starting to play are becoming more and more high end depended

first things first are my specs atm....

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X with stock cooler as my Alphacool Eisbaer LT360 CPU AIO Water Cooling Unit died :(
Gigabyte X370-Gaming K7,
Team Group RAM 16GB DDR4
PowerColor Radeon RX VEGA 64 Red Devil 8GB HBM2 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Samsung 500GB 860 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 64 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive
Samsung C32HG70 32" 2560x1440 VA FREESYNC 144Hz Gaming Quantum DOT HDR Widescreen Curved Monitor
Lian-Li PC-O11 Dynamic Midi-Tower - Black Window

its been a great PC for the last 3-4 years but i feel it maybe time to maybe upgrade some parts or just the whole lot.

i have been looking at some parts and will post them soon as.. (only looking)

thank you

I reckon that will play next BF? Your Vega gets 95 fps in BFV. I guess if you want ray tracing ultra, maybe nab a 3060 ti?

these are the spec needed.

The minimum requirements for Battlefield 2042 are an Intel Core i5 6600K or AMD FX-8350 CPU, 8GB of RAM, 4GB of video memory, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 560 GPU. You'll also need an internet connection with speeds of 512Kbps or faster.

As for the recommended requirements, this includes an Intel Core i7 4790 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, 16GB of RAM, 8GB of video memory, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT GPU. Your PC will also need to be running a 64-bit version of Windows 10.

i play a lot of FPS games, valorant etc also ARK and outriders. to name a few :P

Going 5600/5800X will help for sure but better to stuff money at gpu. This may help https://www.techspot.com/review/2041-ryzen-2700x-vs-3700x/

If you can get a nvidia card via drop, go for that as they are the only ones at msrp. Download telegram and joing FE PartAlert. last drop was last fri, but they have been reasonably regular and it is possible to get one. In last few weeks I managed to get all the cards in my in basket( become a habit now just to see if I can do it). Funnily enough, the 3060ti gets sold out the quickest..last few 3090 drops you've had close to 2hrs to bag one before stock ran out
Otherwise, either nvidia or amd cards are both good. Nvidia has dlss which improves framerates, esp if ray tracing turned on for games that have it. AMD FSR equiv will work with nvidia gpu also. Think main thing to look at is price. because of price, if you have choice between 2 sililar cards at same money, I'd go nvidia, if amd card cheaper, I'd go amd. If you can get a FE card, then FE all the way

my question is what gpu do i stay AMD or change to NVIDIA! do i just stick a better gpu without upgrading the cpu ?
Yeah, Nvidia 3060 ti or 3070, don't change cpu ;)

I'm in the "go big or go home" camp with GPU upgrades and I'd want more than a 3060 Ti from a Vega 64.

You're in something of a bind, because you're only just behind the bleeding edge and you'd be spending a lot to upgrade to something that's not a million miles away.

If I were you, I'd wait until another year or two and buy into am5 or raptor lake.

Your current system is still very capable. Reasonable upgrades are 3080FE , only sensible performance/price upgrade. Then maybe upograde to best cpu you can put in a X370, something I am considering to upgrade old system with Ryzen 1600 in it.

I do not recommend this route but the alternative is a whole new rig with 5800/5900 X570/B550 3080/3080ti/etc pcie4 nvme. The only benefits for going this way is , amazing performance, you get to keep second PC for other people/other uses.

IMHO just try to get 3080 FE in a drop and plug it in and enjoy.

Download telegram on phone, subscribe to FE PartAlert. Founders edition cards are sold by one distributor. When tgey become available, they will post it on telegram with a link to the card. Fir 3090fe's now you have an hour or so before they are sold out, 3060ti's, maybe 5 mins, so you have to be quick... Drop is when they post link... Anytime during workung day mon to fri

A Vega 64 with FreeSync at 2560x1440 is still more than capable. I’d only look at upgrading the graphics card if you wanted to move to a 4K monitor and 5000 series Ryzen.

If you can't get an FE card then I'd just skip this generation as performance per $ is rubbish on the AIB side and we are only a year away from next gen cards and CPUs with DDR5 so no point overpaying this late in the day.
