Hey guys I'm finally going to be pulling the trigger on a 6900XT.

My Current setup is GTX 1080 using it for my ultrawide ROG PG348Q and LG CX OLED.

1080 is slowing a lot in most triple-A games i play at 4k and ultrawide and i have to play on low settings so it's making me a little salty.

I'm not sure what to go for, Both cards are around the same price at the moment so I'm looking at the pros and cons of both cards.

I did originally want a 3080ti with a pre-installed water block but they're so hard to get one I'm going to switch to AMD 6900XT as it has a similar performance from what I have seen.

From what I can tell it's a very minimal base clock difference and i think gigabyte has a longer warranty although I've seen a review of the Gigabyte Waterforce WB that has a very loud coil whine.

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on both products and what option you'd choose and why?

Both are pretty good cards.

@Too Tall - Is the Liquid Devil a true XTXH model? I see the boost clock is lower which gives me doubts on that.

If the answer above is no, then I'd go for the Gigabyte Xtreme Water force as if you are going water cooling you want the best bin 6900 XT.

@Absorbentsolid - It appears like there are two versions of the Liquid Devil, the normal version (boost 2480Mhz) and the Ultimate version. The Ultimate version is the XTXH version which would be the one you want. The place I see it listed though it is more expensive, so I'd probably go for the Gigabyte but wait for @Too Tall's input.
 
As above, i've owned both cards. performance wise, there's probably not a lot in it, just silicone lottery variation - I will say this though, i got very lucky with my Xtreme waterforce as its capable of very high sustained clocks and one of the highest default clocks out of the box i've seen. Also no warranty stickers should you choose to re-paste.

Other points to note - Make sure you get the ultimate red devil, that is the true XTXH as @LtMatt says.

The red devil is taller, I couldn't get the side panel on my O11-D with it mounted horizonally.

The Xtreme is narrower but longer so more room if you want to go vertical/horizontal for tubing, its also the better looking card in my opinion.

Finally and most importantly for me was the warranty is 5 years on the Aorus, especially on such an expensive card.
 
Powercolor don't have the best RMA if it goes wrong. I don't even know which country you'd have to send it back to, who pays the postage, or how many weeks you'd have no GPU for.

Gigabyte has UK based RMA and they're easy to deal with.

So far as I've been able to work out, based on Powercolor's published "international" warranty terms, if you deal direct with them you have to send it to the US and pay for shipping both ways, but I think their intent is that you go through the retailer.

Which is why I've hesitated over the Powercolor as although the Liquid Devil Ultimate is cheaper than the Waterforce WB at one major retailer (although still higher than my target price), I'm not sure about that retailer's CS.

Keep hoping that OCUK get one or other of the waterblocked cards in at a price not too far removed from the Sapphire Extreme Toxic. Which is the card that made me think in terms of a watercooled GPU in the first place.

Thanks for the advice it's been a big help as I've been fighting with this decision for a few days. I'm just looking forward to actually getting it now.

I think I'll go ahead and get the Gigabyte one as the 5 years UK RMA-based warranty sounds good.

I'm about to pull the trigger on buying it so I'll update the thread when I have pictures to share.

Thanks to everyone for the input it's greatly appreciated.

The only other question I have to ask is will I need some new PSU Cables as I run off two 8Pins on my current 1080 Hydro Copper. Do cables come with the box or will I need to buy new ones as I believe the Gigabyte 6900XT is 3 8 pins maybe I'm wrong.

No it doesn't.

It has the same XTXH chip as all the other top tier cards and overclocks the same as those.

Launched but not available (in the UK at least).

Plus I was wrong above about Powercolor's warranty. I was getting mixed up with XFX's warranty - it's XFX who want you to pay shipping both ways to the US if the reseller won't handle it for you (although that's on their US website saying what warranty would be for non-US or Canada countries; can't find a UK XFX site).

Powercolor will at least pay for return shipping, but don't say from where.
 
Surely the Gigabyte is the only one worth buying for the warranty would make me nervous buying a £1700+ card with only 2 years warranty when Gigabyte is 4-5 years

I'd be more concerned with spending £1700 on a card which will be barely midrange come this time next year.

That's the same for any high end card.

It doesn't bother some of us, such is the price of being at the bleeding edge.

the rumour mill is strong with the hype again

latest rumours I've seen says that the 150w Radeon 7600xt will beat the 300w Radeon 6900xt.

If that performance is even remotely correct, then it paves the way for large price increases for next generation- can't wait for the $2k MSRP 7900xt

Ability to set clocks higher than 3ghz, not that the card would actually be stable at those clocks.

So no different from any other XTXH card.

Tech sites reported it as "over 3ghz" because XFX must have put that into their press release statement

Of course its the same card. This one has a 525w max TDP, maybe its higher than other XTXH cards, but who knows?

That isn't TDP, it's just what the connectors can deliver up to - 75w on the socket and 150w on each cable = 525w, so the same as every other XTXH card (i.e. like my Waterforce).

I maintain there is nothing special about the XFX card compared to any other XTXH card.
