Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster.

I want to upgrade my PC to better cope with my 3D animation/photoshop work and I'm looking to buy THESE:

Im currently running Intel 6400 Core2 Duo
400W Power supply
2GB OCZ Ram (As below)

Will probably get Vista 64bit Ultimate to run on new rig.

Gigabyte GA_P35_D£SP

with another 2GB of this OCZ ram (I have 2GB of these already)
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-072-OC

with the possible bargain of the year, the X1950Pro http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-064-OK&tool=3

Will these all work together (I've read the DS3 boards are fussy about RAM?)
Do I need a super beefy power supply to run the 1950 (Think mine is a 400W?)

Thanks all...

*Edit* I'm looking to buy TODAY (PC's borked and I need to eat!) so any replies welcome.
Just wanna know if ram and motherboard will work together and if I need a beefier PSU.

Welcome to the forums.

Firstly, you'll need a 64bit OS to use the full 4GB of RAM you intend on installing.

Secondly, You've not mentioned a CPU?

The X1950 is truely a bargain but bear in mind it's not a DX10 card. THis matters little since you have said it's more for photo editing etc.. but just so you know. It might be worth investing in a 8800GTS 320, which are good value for money.

Lastly, you just might get away with the 400w but it's cutting it fine. My suggestion would be to go fo the Corsair 520W. It's a stable PSU, plenty for what you need and it's modular.

I dunno about the ram, but a 400Watt PSU doesn't mean anything unless it's branded.
Check that before buying anything.

Cheers,
I think I'm going to go a bit higher actually...
extra 2GB Ram
2900Pro GPU (can mod to XT)
Corsair 520W PSU
Gigabyte motherboard.

Should be good, Photoshop should run sweet!

ordered today!

Unless someone has that ram on that motherboard, I doubt you will get a reply.
You could make the guys over here put theie heads on the block (OCZ forums)
You may need to join to see that site.
