I have the following:
i7-6700k (overclocked to 4.5 ghz)
GTI 1080ti
16gb 3000mhx DDR4
I generally play games at 4k, accepting a framerate drop as low as about 45fps at the moment. Appreciate it's not everyone's preference but it's how I prefer to play. My monitor is 60hz, it's an absolutely cracking 32" IPS panel and I'll definitely be keeping it. I also play on my LG 4k TV.
Still, I'd like to get to a constant of 60fps. I think the new Radeon 5800 card will probably do this for me. But I'm not sure if the processor will need an upgrade too. At the minute, playing several games at 45fps, full settings the processor averages about 60% load so I feel like it has quite a bit of headroom.
I can probably afford to replace the MOBO and processor too. But do I really need to? I don't need a faster processor for anything else really, the i7 still blitzes my day to day usage outside of gaming.
