Thanks to the AMD Ryzen time limited deals knocking about I'm tempted to jump ship from my current 5820K to the Ryzen 1700.

It's just for a gaming rig really (1080 Ti).

I've got a 5820K, Asus X99-S & H110.

Once I sell my current gear the upgrade should cost me around £200.

Worth it?

The Ryzen 1700 sure has some good deals now but the 5820K is still a nice CPU.
Unless you have a specific need for 8 cores, I would skip the current generation.

just game then you should just overclock the current chip to, say, 4.5Ghz it would be better than upgrading.

As the others, dont do it

Not the same, but i went X5650 (6/12 @ 4.3) because of the itch, un-wise overall, it is/was a upgrade for me (exl games) (not so much for a 5820 id imagine) but no, not worth it, if anything, im thinking of going back, and selling up the R7

While I'd rather own a 1700 I wouldn't make that change - the reasons I'd prefer the 1700 like upgradability are better served by holding onto your cash and seeing what comes in future then spending it there.

Mate I'w done this jump [email protected] ---> 1700x @ 3950 cause cant do 4....

Slower in games faster in rendering.

And at courent state X99 platform > Ryzen if it goes for bugs stability ect.
