Ok, so I'm in the position to get this mobo and this cpu for £173 brand new and deliverd.

Is this a good price for these two, or should I wait will the price drops really hit and would I be able to get them for a substantial amount less on/after the 22nd?

Did ask in a previous thread in GH, but no answers.

The price of the E6550 should be the same as the E6320 when the price drops come proper. So you should be able to get that mobo and the E6550 for £173.

OK, I'll wait. :)

More power for less money :D

Currently on a 4600+ AM2, so will flog it for as much as possible (around £100 probably...cpu+mobo), and will grab up the Intel setup for as little as possible, may well stick with getting the 63 as it'll be even cheaper, but may get a higher one...depends on money I suppose.

Cheers for the quick replies guys.

If your going to go low cost you might as well go E2140 or E2160.

Otherwise Id also recommend waiting for the E6550.

I aint going to go THAT low cost, euwww they aren't as fun chips ;)

I want as much bang for my £ as possible, whilst keeping costs low, so it's the 6320 upwards for chips.

does anyone know the exact amount prices will be cut by? will it only be like 10-15 quid or something decent?

We know places with do the Q6600 for £175 inc VAT, some are speculating it might drop to £150 after a couple of weeks after that, but thats no cert.

There is no price drop on the E6600 according to OCUK, although that might just be them who are not dropping, which i reckon it is since people will pay the extra £25 for a quad core.

I've got 3GHz from my 2140 out of the box on stock cooler, stock volts. It cost me £55 delivered brand new. If that's not bang-for-buck I don't know what is!
