Upgrade to 2900GT - Worth it from an x1800xt?

Hi folks,

Just seen how cheap the 2900GT's are these days.
Is it much of an improvement over the x1800xt 256mb? I'm not interested in dx10 to be honest, since I dont have vista.

Just wondering if it would give me a cheap upgrade or whether I wouldn't notice much difference?

no, it's more like a directx 10 side step from the x1800xt. as mame said, a 3850 would be better value.

You would probably notice a bit of difference, but as previously said, get a 3850pro instead.

the 2900GT is beaten by the x1950pro in most cases.

The 3850 really is the budget king at the moment.

Get a 3850 (512mb). A serious upgrade for you from the x1800

The 2900gt is pointless. It's a crippled 2900xt with less shaders and 256 mem bandwidth. Don't bother. It also does not have the UVD functions or power saving features of the 38xx series. So once again, get the 3850 512mb, it it a stonking card for the money
