690 is a dual GPU card, and as such, a waste of time.
Why exactly?

The most common people who have issues with dual GPU are those that haven't tried it.
, going on my sig!You say to play BF3 but other up coming titles are at least as demanding.
For example Nexuiz.
The beta is more demanding then BF3 is.
I can play BF3 on ultra above 60fps (apart from the odd v-ram stutter so I have had to drop settings a little).
I cant play Nexuiz beta maxed out above 45fps.
Questions 3: am I crazy to consider this?
this is all a bit scary, if you're saying 50 to 60fps this seems quite low.
my old 8800 gtx is running 30 to 45 FPS and this i really notice, it's way too slow for me, 50 to 60FPS for a GTX 680 aint much faster is it... especially on 1080p
my old card only looks good over 80 fps, but below this it looks choppy, after all this is why i'm upgrading! the image just doesn't pan smoothly from left to right below about 60FPS, there is no way that i'm buying a card that's as low as this.... i keep reading this on all the threads and it gets to me...
i'm after 80 fps period ! for Crysis 2 on 1080p i wont settle for less.... so what is the right card please, because the 680 doesn't look man enough from what you're saying above, i've had 4 years of 60FPS or less.... no more
Minimum 50-60, MINIMUM, this is talking about sudden spikes in maybe, I don't know, stacks of c4 and a plane crashing into your nose, for the most part average is going to be higher, and max more so obviously.

At your stated res of 1920x1080 I would have thought a single 680 would be more than capable of maxing BF3
lollostme
Dave has SLI 470's, not a 680. On saying that though, I have seen BF3 on 64player maps drop as low as 52fps for a couple of seconds...Maybe I don't see it but regardless of anything happening, the game feels so smooth.
Maybe the 980 will cope![]()
it would be interesting to know what it is for Borderlands/ bioshock/ far cry 2
hi Gregster
Maybe i've missed that this is the lowest FPS, but the average is far higher.

@ OptimaLnrg
Far from it lol...Search around for best interest rates, that's all I can say...
From your sig:
|Phantom 3gb 580 (please take it away -_-) @ stock|
LOL, is that a sign for me to get the 680 instead
i keep thinking about all that money just to play one game "bf3" is it worth it? no imo
is Nexuiz worth buying, it looks pretty naff to me
