Upgrade to 680 SLI specifically for BF3 - worth it?

Sure two cards give you GOOD frame rates in Ultra@1080p but if you are a serious BF3 player, you will want 120fps minimum frame rate.

I'm a serious BF3 player and I get by just fine around 80-90

I'm thinking the same mate, but having second thoughts. My 2 580's run BF3 maxed out at 1920x1080 flawlessly so maybe think about a couple of them instead?

So do my GTX 480 SLi (1920 X 1200)

What's wrong with calling it like it is? In 64 multiplayer, two cards in Ultra detail won't throw out a solid 120fps@1080p.

I have no idea how your getting 70-80 on average with 4xMSAA in BF3 MP with 1x680 (even with OC). Which map - certainly not Caspian Border? I get about 60 on that map @stock.

Youtube videos have shown similar performance to mine. For me to get in the 80-90s I need SLI enabled.

Maybe something wrong with my setup?

Without running a scientific benchmark at all I get around 70 average on that map with one 680. More like an average of 80-90 (ish!) on others though. My overclock scales really well. I think I get about 10 FPS extra with my settings shown in sig...

With a OC you should easy get 70fps on 64mp caspian average. I wouldn,t say there is something wrong with your set-up though, maybe no OC?
