Recently put together a mates i7 pc, and he kindly provided a few hand me downs that i decided would be useful for my GF's pc.
GF's pc:
Gigabyte socket 775 - GA-965P-DS3 rev 1.0
Intel core 2 Duo E6300 - 1.86Ghz
2x1 GB corsair dominator memory
BFG 9600GT OC
Seasonic 600w
Upgrades
Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 - 2.66Ghz
8800GT (arguably not much of an upgrade)
All components were working fine before hand, and care taken when dismantling, putting together the pc.
I checked the cpu support list here, obviouslt not an issue, the motherboard is running the newest bios.
Connected everything up, attempted to boot, fans whirl up (everything) power cuts out, assumed that was because hardware had been changed, then computer restarts, doesnt cut out but no output.
Swapped DVI port, no luck.
Swapped graphics back to old one, also no luck.
Removed battery from motherboard to clear cmos, no difference.
Other things may be worth noting:
Bios is not accessible, not visibly anyway due to no output.
USB keyboard not illuminating as it usually does, which may be default bios setting after cmos is cleared. Tried with Usb to PS2 converter, illuminates but still no access to bios.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
