I'm a gamer who is looking to upgrade his 5 year old home built PC.

My current set up is an Asus P5Q Pro motherboard with a Q6600 Quad core CPU & 4gb of ram. I've only recently upgraded the graphics card to a Radeon HD6950 - 2gb ram.

This is all being powered by an Antec Quattro 850 PSU which I think will still be ok for the new set up.

Oh yes, my case is an Antec 900.

I'm looking for a motherboard (preferably Asus), i5 or i7 processor & 8 - 16 gb of ram (either a bundle or individual parts, I don't mind). My budget is £500.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry but going to piggyback this thread my current set up is almost the same apart from a motzart tx case which is nothing less than huge.

Componets are almost the same q6600 at 3.9gh but under water cooling which I must confess getting bored of now. Changing anything is a pain bleeding the system testing and then going again. Looking for a upgrade have monitor os psu maybe the case although it is a little big.

Looking to get at least a gtx 670 and something that will last a while. Got to be ivybridge and happy to build my own. Also have delta fans so looking for some peace and quiet (anyone remember the carrot test?)

Budget around a grand been so long a little out of touch. Any help welcome.

Cheers.

Dram if you want tiny but strong how about this, will have the footprint of a sheet of A4 and quiet to boot, don't expect a massive CPU OC though it should do a modest one.

Thanks for the help, that's more or less exactly what I was looking for except I'd forgotten to add the cpu fan/cooler to my wants list...

There's a bundle out this week at:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-112-OE&groupid=43&catid=2053&subcat=

Which is £455 for the 16gb version already overclocked, do you think this would be a good buy?

Oh, and yes it'll be mainly used for gaming, with the usual addiction of youtube video watching :)

Once again, thanks for your help...
