Hi, I have a work N73 on O2. Can I just d/l and run the software updater on the nokia site? or do i need a special O2 firmware?

I just downloaded and installed the Nokia Software Updater from the website and updated my N91 via that, it works fine and the firmware was updated no probs :)

Tom

I have a N73 with O2, the current O2N73 product code doesnt allow for the N73 to be updated by NSU. But if you change your N73's product code to the default euro one then the phone can be updated with NSU. Then just change your product code back to its original.

Read up at all about symbian.

Mick.

If the above is classed as naughty stuff then feel free to delete whatever you fancy

Try it. It'll either update or not. For me NSU did not want to update my firmware ( O2 uk unlocked ) So instead of sticking to the crappy 1st release firmware, I did the above mentioned. Now I'm running on the latest firmware and my product code is back to original. :)

In the process of updating now thanks for that Mick :). Didn't think it was possible unless I went to a Nokia Service Centre.

ok well i took the plunge and updated my FW too, changing the product code etc, BUT

i cant download MSN anymore, im on 3, certificate error, seems the certificate thing is built in the original 3 FW, so now my phone is unbranded it doesnt have the certificate thingy

anyway even though i backed everything up, including msn...when i restored its nowhere to be seen....

does anyone know of any other way to download and install msn apart from Services on 3?

How do u change the product code and do this stuff, i cant find the info on that other forum.

If you've put the default firmware on the phone, then you have lost the network specific signing certificates. This means you won't be able to install 3's MSN as it would have been signed against that certificate
