Upgrading from 6600k to 6700k: what happens to BIOS settings?

I bought an upgrade bundle from OCUK a few years ago where the 6600K came overclocked already. The Asus Z170 board has the settings in there to this day. What I'm wondering is, what happens if I swap out the 6600K for a 6700K? Will the BIOS settings revert to default settings upon detecting a newer/different CPU or will it continue to apply the previous settings such as voltages, multipliers, etc?

It 'should' detect a different CPU and ask you to enter the bios to check and or make changes.

Ideally you would go in and load the default settings anyway when swapping in a new CPU (sometimes called load optimal configuration or similar).
