Sadly I tore a hole in one of my Avant 902i bass drivers so now I'm thinking upgrade to the Q Acoustics 3020's, they will be used for PC speakers connected to a Denon PMA 510AE separates amp, I'm just wondering if this is too much of a 'side grade'? I do like the 902i's but would like a bit more mid range and wondering if the 3020's will supply that?

Otherwise I may just be temped to grab another set of 902i's although at the moment the cheapest decent pair on the bay is £90 and I feel that is a bit overpriced, any other small book shelf speakers I'm missing?

The 3020 RMS power is less, and the sensitivity is slightly lower as well. Certainly not an upgrade in my eyes.

Best to pop down to Richer Sounds and have a listen, maybe also try some Monitor Audio and Dali Zensors at the same time.

The power handling and sensitivity ratings are no way to judge how a speaker will sound.

Replace the torn driver and save yourself some cash? It does seem like a good excuse for an upgrade though! How on earth do you tear a speaker cone unless you're a curious three year old?

Damn, you guys have not made my decision any easier, I guess an audition is needed.

Had one of them balancing on two pieces of metal protruding from my desk as a make shift stand, I accidentally nudged the desk too hard and I think you can guess what happened next :-(, I was supposed to fix a piece of wood to the metal rods ages ago, live and learn I guess.
