Upgrading to Vista 64

I currently have Vista 32bit business and want to switch to 64bit as i have recently purchase 4gb ram. I have 3 HDD's.

HDD1:

C: = Windows Vista 32bit
D: = Data

HDD2:
Data

HDD3:
F: = DATA
G: = newly created after shrinking the single partition on HDD3.

I want to install Vista 64 on G: and after doing this, I'm not having problem booting into. I get an error and the machine tries to boot from C:

Should this work? I am currently trying reinstalling Vista 64 after unplugging HDD1.

Sound like you should have done a dual boot install. In other words, install from within the os and tell it to install a fresh copy on your chosen drive. That way you will get the dual boot menu off the boot drive, "c"

Gah, can i still try it that way?

So left the HDD with the old OS unplugged and am now installing Vista 64.

After installation, if I plug HDD1 back in, will there be issues?

should be able to, just plug everything in as it was before, Assuming you haven't changed anything on your original OS hard drive. you will need to reformat the G: partition though.

Ok, so now I have Vista 64 installed on HDD3 on a partition that is now C:.

HDD1 is still unplugged and afaik, Vista32bit on this drive is on the old drive C.

If I plug HDD1 back in, will the new Vista 64 boot fine? Currently HDD3 is set as first in the boot order.
