Some darling lady has pulled out of a junction as I was driving past and hit the back passenger side of my car, cars parked up looking worse for wear where its been hit. Obviously I have to call my insurance company Elephant, she admitted fault in my house in front of my housemates and I don't think she will change her details, I have photos just encase.

Do I phone help hire, will they give me a suitable replacement at 21 years old, or shall I just take what elephant give me? Any other advice appreciated, I have her name, address and registration.

(pics later)

Any comments advice appreciated. Feel free to make me laugh.

what car? I'm 19 and was hit in my 2.5l V6 Ghia X, they gave me an 07 plate BMW 320D MSport, so yea age isnt an issue for getting a decent car.

MX5, firestars old one. I want a specific garage to do the work as well, will helphire let me do this? Do I need to even phone elephant at this stage?

speak to your insurance first and see what they will do for you.

This, remember this is what you pay your insurers for. Get them to sort it for you, then claim it back off the other person's policy. Job done, hassle and stress free (assuming they don't write the car off, which can often take a surprisingly small amount of damage...)

I am very concerned about this.

If it's going to be written off, it won't matter whether you go through your insurance or theirs, it will happen anyway.

Without seeing pics of the damage and knowing a rough value of the car, it's hard to tell, but it's something to consider and possibly prepare yourself for depending on what sort of damage has occured...

I clock her, shes at a complete stop as she should be.

Once she is out of my field of vision and clearly behind me she pounces like a ninja.

I was lucky to escape with both my life and my dignity after such a high speed impact ;) The car did swing round quite violently on a serious not and I came close on both sides correcting the car to make it at least semi straight again to come to a stand still.

(She isn't in these last photos because frankly, as she was behind me, I have no idea what she or her car did!)

The damage.

Bare in mind, the door is fully shut at this point, the locking mechanism still works and to open the door you need to pull the handle up still.

I have called http://www.europaconsultants.co.uk/ as they have now been recommended to me by both this forum (thanks Jamoor) and on Piston Heads as they have a very good reputation. I have been warned not to call my insurance company by both Piston Heads and Europa themselves.

Oh the drama!

Elephant were great when I had my accident. Wish the same could have been said about the garage but ho hum. Give them a call, that's what they are there for.

What would people do without OcUK? :p

Elephant would give me a Fiat Punto as a replacement, although tbh, I cant see Europa doing that much better, still, might as well give it a shot, so yea, this forum as well as Piston Heads has certainly been worth the price of admission.

The car is insured as she said it was (to be fair she seemed very honest and apologetic) however her insurance company shut at 5pm so Europa are guna get back to me then, however, with all the evidence, Europa believe it will be an open and shut case against her.
