Urgent Help (oc staff) 2 hard drives fail in a week

That's not a reason for RMAing the drive (RMAs are used for faulty products).

What you should have asked for is a product that matches the discription (new) as per the Sale of Goods act.

But enough of that - if you've got a problem with OCs service the best method of complaining is to do it privately via the web-note or customer service forum. Complaining in a "public" thread rarely gets you anywhere..

I wasn't complaining, it was purely a suggestion of why the Op's drives might be failing. And I did try and contact OC both via phone and Webnote, told I couldn't return over the phone had to be done via webnote, webnotes wouldn't send me the relevant returns information. Like you say I should have gone to Trading Standards but I was having a hard personal time so decided just to keep the HD.

Anyway good luck getting the issue resolved

Sorry, just read your post and assumed that you were having a public dig at overclockers- my mistake.

Might be worth telling the op how you found out your drive was used, so he can check!

Mine was pretty obvious, pre-formatted to FAT32 with a disk label of "IOMEGA". But software like "HD-TuneUp" will give S.M.A.R.T information from the drive (Power On times etc). My hardrive also had the odd mark on the chassis.
