Hi the situation is i sent back one of my 8800GTX cards on an rma and they now have none left. I have been offered these and told they are an upgrade could anyone agree i have to let them know soon as. Thanks in advance guys.

Are you kidding? you've been offered a pair of 260GTX's to replace your faulty 8800GTX SLI setup...

A single 260GTX can give strong competition with a pair of 8800GTX's in most games, a pair of 260GTX's thats very fast. A considerably upgrade, especially the maxcore versions!!!! Take it before they change their minds.

Normally when it comes to SLI, they replace the faulty card, and then you end up with 1 8800GTX, and 1 260GTX, and then you cant sli anymore. But if you are getting a pair of 260's your a lucky one :)

Thanks a lot for the quick responses guys i was just looking at the specs and it doesnt seem a big difference. Is it quite a considerable difference in performance i would notice? I was considering asking if they could supply 285s instead and id pay towards it, is this worth trying do you think as i was thinking of upgrading soon anyway. Thanks.

Worth trying but is it worth the money? The only reason I ask is that you will see a major boost with the two 260's over the 8800GTX cards.

ANd the 285 isn't that far ahead of the 260 isf you overclock them.

My overclocked 260 beats a lot of GTX 280's and even a few GTX 285's.

All depends on the res you are playing and your cpu. Two GTX 285's only worth it if playing on 30" tft and you have an i7 to get the max out of them

Thats the thing you see im gaming over 3 26" monitors using TH2Go at 5040x1050, so would it be worth trying cos of this factor or do you think the 260s will cope fine for quite a while yet? im using a Q6850 extreme CPU.

A GTX260 is approximately 50% more powerful than an 8800GTX. SLI will scale equally well, and the 260's dominance will increase with the resolution.

So what is the main difference i will notice as all my games ie cod4 crysis etc cope great its only when i put crysis on high it struggles at 5050x1050 will this be better on the 260's and GTR evolution struggles a little is this due to the game being fast? Cod 4 is brilliant with everything on high.

I have not played at that screen size, but the 260 will be noticeably faster than the 8800GTX at ALL resolutions, in ALL games. As a guide figure it should be around 20-70% faster so long as your CPU is not the bottleneck.
