Hey all. i need a number for some kind of domestic health and safety officials.

im living in a shared house and the landlord has decided to partition the room next door to me.

the worker carrying out the task is a complete monkey and has covered the whole house from most of the bed rooms on 2 floors to the kitchen.

i mean there is dust in my wardrobes.

the worker and the landlord are basically doing nothing to clean the house and there is like 6-8 people living here while this is being carried out.

is there any number i can call to report this?

my wife has asma and this is not acceptble.

not to mention the kitchen and everything else including furiture and clothes are all covered in dust and its a pain to even breathe.

sorry if it makes little sense but its hard to think with 1% oxygen in the room lol.

PLEASE HELP US

does the council deal with private property?

thanks

I'm not sure, but probably, since the landlord would be paying council tax. Wouldn't have any negative consequences trying though to see. They might be able to tell you who you need to call if they aren't the right people.

How about calling the landlord?

Radical idea I realise, but given that you're renting the place from him and given that he hired this "monkey" to do the work....I know you said that they aren't doing anything to clean it up, but you threatening them to report it elsewhere (even if you don't say where) might get him moving.

cheer buddy. ill do that in the morning.

google isnt helping me much today :(

The coucil should be able to help to some extent, ecen if only to put you in the right direction.

I absoutely detest landlords like this, they are mistreating you because of your position in a shared house, they are see you next tuesdays. Give your land lord everything youve got. Photograh and document EVERYTHING! You will be able to clam damages, are they causing a noise? Do they come at antisocial hours? Please for the sake of people living in shared accomodation, do not let the land lord treat you like this!

and most of all good luck!!

Like I said - tell him you'll report it. Even if you don't say where/who you're going to report it to, you might scare him into sorting the problem.

hold on: things like this get done before anyone moves in lol... This is unlivable conditions wtf (been in a similar situation and we got put up in a hotel)

speak to CAB ASAP! This is pretty much an emergency dude...

has none of the other tenants living in the house objected to this????? You should ALL speak to the landlord about it. If he does nothing get advice from cab (they'll prolly advise council) When you phone the council mention that your wife is seriously ill because of this. Environmental health should be down sharpish.

but i repeat you cant live in these conditions.

I'd think about withholding rent as well when this is going on. Start taking lots of lovely photos as well

ive taken some pics and a vid of some of the details and ive i put a note up saying i have contacted someone from health and satefy.

i called the council emergency line and they said to call back during opening hours so i will do so in the morning.

let the fun and games begin :(

btw - tell me youve got a tenancy agreement? It should mention a few things about landlord responsibilities as well.

do him on breach of contract.
