Urgent question! Dell U2410 and audio out

I am about to buy an Xbox 360 and will be connecting it up via the Dell U2410's hdmi input.

For audio I'm going to use my Aego M 2.1's as don't have room for 5.1 and think the Aego's are pretty decent. The Aego's have a line level input on the front, and I would hope to run a cable to this from the audio output on the Dell screen. From reading the specs, this 3.5mm audio output jack is designed to pass sound through from a hdmi connection.

My question is if anyone has done this, and my worry is there might be lag as I know cheaper Dell screens had issues with lag in this manner.

Any of you U2410 owners know the answer to this. I guess no one has tried the hdmi analog audio out ?

I use a similar setup on my dell 2407. Works great but sometimes i have to turn the monitor off and on to get audio after changing input(prolly so the D>A converter works) I go from Monitor > pc line in > headphones. no lag that I can see

Cool. Thanks for the info. Yeah, I remember hearing about audio lag before on 1 dell screen that had hdmi audio out. Hopefully the U2410 won't have it.

Sorry to bump this ancient thread, but I have a question here:

The audio quality seems very poor. Is it because the Dell U2410 is doing a bad job transmitting the audio signal?

Yep. Pure rubbish and desperate latency. I abadoned the idea sharpish. It's actually a known issue as I worked in Dell the time I posted that but only found out about it being a problem when customers started complaining...lol.
