Part 2!
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is finally on its last legs, at 190k miles the transmission is starting to slip, it's leaking oil and coolant and half the electrics don't work
This time we had the advantage of having cash available with a $10k limit - the wife likes her SUVs so our first thought was to get a newer model Grand Cherokee as it had served us pretty well and she liked them - however in 2005 they did a re-model and it kinda sucks tbh

The Laredo now feels really cheap and plasticky and not really up to scratch -unfortunately that then opened up the scope massively.
So after racking up a thousand miles or so of driving around SB County and L.A. (*spit*), including looking at an 8.1L Yukon XL (too big, shocking mpg), Honda Pilot (very good apart from rear seats don't fold flat and wasn't high enough), Ford Explorer/Expedition (seats not comfortable), Chevy Trailblazer (too small), and being tempted by a jet black 1992 raised Ford Bronco that she wanted to put pink hibiscus flowers on.....we settled on:
2001 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 5.3L, 92k miles - $9,450 including a Garmin Nuvi GPS thrown in. Oh a 20" chrome rims
Got really lucky - absolute mint condition, not a dent or scratch, 2 prev owners, guy was selling it as he had just got a company car, good maintenance records, new tires, alignment and brakes 6 months ago etc. All electrics work and the interior only really has wear on the drivers chair, the passenger and rear seats look like they've barely been used. And on the wife's side most importantly she likes the colour
Mileage is er..ok (15-17 avg probably) but it's a cracking SUV, leather heated seats, Bose sound, sunroof, tons of cupholders lol
Only disappointing thing is that it's a 5.3L not a 5.4L which would give wife and I 10L between us, 9.9 will have to do though
