Usage of the word "gay"

I thought they proved that being gay was a lack of serotonin and that it should be treated as an illness like depression?

don't think so.

iirc there was one study that found certain areas of gay men's brains resemble female brains more than males.

But they don't have lower serotonin they'd be much more ****ed (ok bad pun :o) if that was the case.

I wonder how many blokes shout about how disgusting what gays get up to is, while at the same time being quite happy to indulge in a bit of bum fun with the missus.

The operative words being " the missus" and not "another man".

Holding hands with missus while taking a stroll in the park = Straight.

Holding hands with another man talking a stroll in the park = Gay

Even if the other guy is special needs on a day trip and you are his helper, you love him, and want to touch his bottom.

:D

The difference is that trying to get your Mrs to let you kick her back doors in is a challenge and therefore a manly task to take on.

With a Gayer it's easy, they expect you to bum them silly.

I almost spat my tea out all over the keyboard! :D

And that's the best bit! You don't have to beg, plead, promise to do the washing up for a week or feed him Anadin! You just get on with it. You poor devils. :D

I don't promise any of that, I offer her a wooden spoon to bite on and that's it.

No, according to when I studied biology, the latest research showed that hormone imbalances during fetal development may be the cause.

Also, the more male children a woman has, the higher the likelihood becomes of later male offspring being gay, which is believed to happen due to the mothers body trying to feminise the embryo somehow.

All embryos, whether XX or XY begin development as female, then in the case of XY, due to the action of the sex determining region of the Y chromosome, one particular androgen inhibits female development, and another stimulates male development (I cant recall the name of one of the androgens, and the other is Dihydrotestosterone, but I cant remember which role it plays).

It is believed that in imbalance of such hormones may lead to a highly variable alteration of either a persons sexuality, or even their mental gender, regardless of whichever phenotype is expressed in their genitalia (Also, natural XX males and XY females plus anything inbetween can naturally occur, but is far far rarer than sexuality and mental gender variations).

In any case, no area or association within medical science any longer considers sexuality to be a disorder. Science describes it as a variation, but the exact causes are not known, and any evidence trying to pinpoint the cause on genes has always turned out to be completely inconclusive.

Looks like teachers are being urged not to condone the word gay in the classroom. I must say that I agree with this to be honest. Better to iron it out at an early age and get the children using more appropriate words!

If someone says something is 'gay' in my lesson, I will ask the student what is happy or homosexual about the thing they are talking about. It makes them think about the use of the word.

Depending on the age of the students and the context he could get some interesting replies there... "I was implying that it was rubbish, in the same way that getting buggered seems like bad idea?"

Wonder how well the teacher really thinks it through. :D I'm not saying it's a bad idea stopping kids from using it in that way, however it could lead to some interesting conversations if the teachers don't really want to talk about it.
