Usb port protectors?

Does anyone know if you can get small male to female usb adaptors, to protect the original port from frequent re-connects? I see extension cables which i'd prefer to avoid due to the size but nothing else.

How many usb ports have you broken in the past?

All of the ports on my old laptop became iffy, I have to jiggle my mouse to re-connect it often. There was also the time that the laptop fell off my bed onto the side with a connected device, resulting in one of the two ports becoming bent and un-usable, although to be honest I suspect the "port protectors" I am after would have failed to save them from that.
