Vacuum cleaner spec me

Had a Dyson, wasn't very good, had various cheap ones, weren't very good

Got a Charles now (same as Henry but does liquids too) , excellent machine but not upright as specified

Got a Dyson recently (one of the smaller ones dc19 I think) and its amazing how good it is. I'd hoovered a floor with my old vacuum just two days before and it looked clean, however the amount of dust the Dyson got up with its suction power was incredible.

It actually looks so good that it also doesn't matter to much if you don't put it away!

Whatever they've done, the Dyson marketing team have done a superb job in making people think there's something special about their products

Oh indeed, i am sure its a bit of a rip off, but it is what she wants and my lack of care for this kind of thing cannot be underestimated.

They come with a 12 month warranty. So looking at this thread i will expect the DC25 to last until this time next year, at which point i will buy a Miele/Kirby/Whatever when it breaks after 12 months and a day. :p

If anybody wants to shed any light on the whole animal/all floors thing it would be cool :)

LOL, so they do.

No brainer then. I have no idea how anybody can badmouth a device with a 5 year warranty as you cant lose.
Easily when the ****** keeps breaking down and therefore the dust builds up! They did give me a brand new one on Wednesday though, just assumed buying the flagship models would eradicate the numerous faults I have had with the hoover's I have had over the years.

Had one of the original Dysons for years and apart from the odd blockage, worked like a dream (inc dog hair) for several years; I left it as a present for the purchasers of my old flat.

When I moved to a new flat, I bought a powerful (2kw+) Hoover: they have been making 'em for around seventy years so I thought that they might have learned a thing or two; how wrong can one be? the thing is not even 'fit for purpose' in my opinion and when I complained, I got the usual ..... "you need to clean the filters" ***!

I'd go back to Dyson anytime; in fact, when I can afford it, I will.

After rapidly working though a number of vacuum cleaners that weren't fit for use we ended up with the Samsung SC9540. Might be worth taking a look at there upright range.

The only problem we've ever had with a Dyson was it not wanting to work properly after yanking it up and down the driveway by the power cord when I was younger :o

Expensive, but worth it IMO

Our first Dyson was good but the 2nd one we bought (after the motor died in the first one) is not really that great.

Motor isn't as powerful. Parts feel more flimsy. The actual tube/hose that the attachments clip onto is flimsy so when you are cleaning it collapses easily and stops sucking.

Wouldn't buy one again - I mean it's not rubbish but it's not great.
