I'm pondering upgrading the 'guts' of my PC and the Q9450 seems to be the best value CPU out there for the kind of stuff I do (lots of rendering etc.)
However, I've not done this for years and am frankly clueless about the massive range of motherboards/chipsets and associated memory options etc. I don't want to overclock and I use very few of the bells'n'whistles on most motherboards (audio, ethernet, RAID etc.), and a greater amount of relatively slower memory is more useful to me than a smaller amount of faster memory.
Suggestions for an inexpensive but reliable mobo?
