sorry if been posted already, got a letter from my phone company 3 today saying that the government are increase VAT from 17.5% to 20% from 4th january 2011

this government is rubbish

Will that really make a difference to you?
Just think, for a while you had it cheaper now you have to pay a bit more, so over the whole term you haven't gained or lost anything.

If something costs £2350 now inc VAT it will cost £2400 with the extra VAT. Big whoop, the biggest thing it will have an effect on is car prices.

Have you been living in a cupboard for the last year? The economy problems and the VAT increase have been known for a good long time ^^

Buy any luxuries you plan to buy before then

You need to blame Labour, not 'this government'

too many people fail to see that whenever the Tories get elected its after Labour has made a mess (eg Thatcher, eg Cameron). They then proceed to get a bad name for themselves over the next 5 years putting things right by cutting jobs, raising taxes and spending less making towns look pretty.

Labour then take over just as all the Tories hard work is paying off and they get the glory all over again until they spuff it up against the wall again. Rinse and repeat.

Wow, you clearly don't understand the complete mess that Labour left this country in.

The VAT rise is to try to get the flailing economy back on its feet. Labour ruined things. The Conservatives have an immense task on their hand and a lot of us are going to have to suffer for it: things have to get worse before they get better.

That the government who have got to raise it to recoup the losses made when the last one dropped it down to 15% as a vote winning ploy?

Or as fiscal stimulus.

Some election ploy that one, lets drop VAT for a bit and put it back up months before the election...

God, talk about a blinked forum.

Go tory boys go!

Oh, and its nothing like 'labour break it tories always fix it rinse repeat'

Show me these repeats.

Black wednesday anyone?

"We have inherited the largest budget deficit blah blah blah blah".

Change the record Dave.

why? he has a completely valid point which complete morons that infest this country don't seem to understand.

We ***** £120 million pounds a day up the wall to interest payments.

His job is near impossible, he has to remind people what he has inherited and that's why tough decisions have to be made.

get over it, the record will stay playing for 5 years hopefully, so we never have a labour government again.
