Stayed in New York New York. I would happily suggest it. Clean and spacious rooms with a good choice of restaurants and a reasonable casino floor. The best part about it was its location. We stayed very little time in the room which I presume most do.

I would definitely avoid circus circus and Strat.

My heads spinning with all this, I tell you!

It will be spinning even more when you get there!!

Basically the luxury hotels are:

Encore
Wynn
Palazzo
Bellagio
Cosmopolitan
Mandarin Oriental
Four Seasons

The really good hotels are

THE Hotel
Mandalay Bay
Caesars Palace
Planet Hollywood/ PH Towers
MGM
A.ria
vdara
Trump
Venetian

The ok hotels are

Tropicana
Mirage
Monte Carlo

The hotels I wouldn't stay in are

Luxor
Circus circus
Excalibur
Nyny
Stratosphere
Flamingo
Riviera
Ballys
TI

I have only stayed in Mandarin Oriental and Encore on strip- other times stayed off strip in an apartment. My opinion is based on wandering around the casinos in each hotel...

It depends what you want from a hotel and let's face it you will not be in your room for more than 8 hours at a time to sleep- if you are,you are doing Vegas wrong!

I am going early september and we are staying in what was previously called PH Towers. I think its now a Hilton owned thing called 'Elara'.

Staying here + flights came to ~£960 each for 7 nights.

Out of the ones on your list though I would probably go PH.

Circus? No no no no! Never.

Planet Hollywood is in the very best strip location IMO (PH, Caesars, Bellagio, City Center, etc.). It may be slightly more money but believe me, you WILL regret staying far away from that area. It's quite a long walk.

Circus Circus is a dreadful location

Planet Hollywood
Mirage
Bellagio
Caesars palace
Treasure Island
Venetian
****

All good locations, pretty central

I stayed in TI and it was decent, nice rooms, casino isn't the biggest but it's fine otherwise and near a lot of the other big casinos.

Got to love the **** being censored each time it's mentioned, makes it difficult to know what one people are talking about!

I liked PH very much but I did pay only £33 a night to stay there. Not sure how my opinion would differ with prices are high as that!

I stayed in Planet Hollywood and the Cosmo. They were both fantastic but I didn't pay for my stay at the Cosmo and I know it was a LOT more than PH. They are on opposite sides of the road to each other so therefore if it was my money I'd be going for PH.

I also found the casino in PH a lot more friendly, the Cosmo table limits were a lot higher due to the differing clientele.

I am trying to decide whether to just do a flydrive, stay in vegas during the week and then trot off somewhere for the weekend, my girlfriend hasnt seen Los Angeles so I may do that, I know its a long drive (I did it last year), but it would make the hotels a good deal cheaper.

I would do that - and I'd fly to LA as well. Start in LA one weekend, finish in LA the next, do Vegas in between. The road trip is fun, it isnt that far and gas is cheap but you will find that not only are the flights cheaper to LA, but you tend to get better flights too (Virgin for example fly the ancient 747's to Gatwick but the newer A340-600's with better IFE to LA, though I'm not sure about from Glasgow).

Midweek stays in Vegas are cheaper.

Just yesterday booked for Tropicana. Was well reviewed and looked like a good location on the strip. Doesn't look very interesting from the outside, not themed much, but I don't think it's really an issue. Hopefully will be decent!

I did the road trip last year if you remember :)

There are no direct flights to LA anyway from Scotland, so its going to be straight into Vegas.

I went to a good night club there, really busy full of hot women but i was so drunk I cant tell you what the hotel look like :(

Also with reference to the thread, I would never stay at CC its a dive and full of children also the area around is not so nice.
