Booking up a week in Vegas in July (as they fly direct from Glasgow on only a couple of dates). I was there last year and didnt stay on the strip.

At the moment the best price I can get is for Circus Circus for a week and flights for £803, planet hollywood is £925, and things like New York New York and the Luxor are just under £900.

Has anyone stayed in Circus Circus and is it recommended?

I know Fox stayed at Planet Hollywood and recommended it, Im just trying to see whether its worth the extra £250 as that can be put to some gambling fun while we are there.

Circus circus has a good steak resturant but it's a dive and it's right at very end of the strip

New York new York and planet Hollywood are both worth the extra £100 ish to stay there

I`ve never been to Vegas but we have just booked up after a lot of research and we are staying at the **** in Sept.
But iam sure circus circus will be fine and this also depends on your budget of course.

Dial a flight would be a good place to look as they have got some very good deals on and they book hotel and flight and car

Circus Circus is a dive and right out of the way of where we want to be.

New York New York the rooms and the casino in general are absolutely nothing special but I really enjoyed staying there, nothing pretentious about the place.

I stayed in the Westgate Tower @ Planethollywood which I believe is slightly more upmarket than the actual casino-hotel bit, as it has a full kitchen and such, but I love the location, nice casino, good food nearby, shopping, the works. Just accross the road from the Bellagio too which is in my opinion the best casino on the strip.

The Luxor is another dated casino right up the end of the strip, it looks ok from the times I've been there but I'd go for Planethollywood for the money.

As others have said Circus Circus is a dive compared to others, as well as being out of the way and full of kids/families.

I'd recommend the MGM Grand, Venetian, New York New York or Wynn/Encore.

Don't bother with travel agents, just book yourself via lastminute/expedia etc. It's also worth remembering most of the casino will also charge a resort fee on checkout that won't be included in the price you pay on booking, so be sure to account for it.

I have looked at this, but theres only 1 flight to Vegas from Glasgow, prices for flight are all around £1550.

Avoid the cheapest one, because I'll be there to annoy the **** out of you \o/

But be warned, I'll be mobile, so will probably annoy everyone, everywhere, all the time. Bit like now, really.

Ok this is a link to where we are staying in sept as i could list the name.
I did a lot of research and this came out ontop very close call with Bellagio

http://www.hotels.com/hotel/details...ate=13-09-2012&departureDate=20-09-2012&rooms[0].numberOfAdults=2&roomno=1&validate=false&previousDateful=false&reviewOrder=date_newest_first

I was in the **** last year (I parked in there) it was a beautiful hotel, its costing £1050 each to stay there, so its quite a hike.

Yeah? You there at the same time? Where are you staying?

*shrug* I don't think booking a place to stay will happen until some point in July. Apparently there is a good pool party at one of them on a Sunday, hmmmm, I must investigate this.

Also, try air b+b.com (sp?) - you can go to an apartment for penuts. In fact, there was an amazing 8 sleeper penthouse near the strip for £180 a night last time I checked... definitely a stag do room if there ever was one!

Vegas. One of my face places on earth! As said, avoid circus circus and stratosphere as they are vile. Strat is ok to go up to the top of for a first time trip.

I am also not fussy on Excalibur or NY NY despite having good locations. They were both full of kids.

We had our wedding reception at The Encore last year. It's an awesome hotel in a good location for Fashion Show Mall and Palazzo/ Venetian

As for your hotel It depends on your budget I suppose. We got an amazing deal on the Mandarin Oriental last year too but for a first time Vegas trip it isn't really a Vegas style hotel- no casino and very quiet. Go on money supermarket and do a search there- low cost USA is also a good site for hotels.

Planet Hollywood, excellent location, possibly the best buffet and big rooms.
