Video clips of my new car - Octavia vRS

Nice motor. What sort of difference did the exhaust make? I was considering getting one on the Toledo (same engine) but don't know if it's worth the money or not. Are you running a Forge recirc valve on it?

BTW is revving at idle like that good for the engine? :o

Too be honest I didn't find a 'massive' difference in performace as other have, but that could be down to the fact I only had the car 5 days before getting the exhaust on it. My mate said he could definitly feel a better responce thorough the bottom and top revs. But the sound is so nice, even more so when it's had some gas heat and its very throaty then.
Theres a group buy for a Blueflame ongoing, started on seatnet I think which has a chunky £170 off.

DV at the moment it's standard as Jabba can get it fitted when I go for the remap in a couple of weeks. I opted for the Baileys DV30 simply as thats what they have and gets equally as much prasie as the Forge, in fact it seems most recirc valves are more or less the same, it's the atmos valves that vary largely.


It was a nice cold day, and as you can hear it had a lot of wind so the car been warmed up safely and then reved for a 30 sec blast then driven again doesn't seem to bring up any safety probelms for the engine seeing as it was a one off.
 
I must say, from the video it sounds well. Are you going for any specific type of remap? I've been debating whether or not to get mine REVO'd but I don't know wheter or not to do the other mods first. I have a Pipercross filter in place with a slight modification to the stock cold air feed, just need an exhaust and a decent recirc valve.
What do you reckon the best course of action is?

BTW what are the VRS brakes like? The Toledo's (312mm discs IIRC) are very sharp but I find that after about 20 mins of hard driving they suffer from noticeable fade. When I say hard driving I mean on a quiet road with no other traffic, between roundabounts, i.e. accelerating to 80-90 and braking hard. I don't do that very often (only when I go back to Ireland really) but when I do I find it annoying. Would the VRS have better brakes as standard as I was thinking I might be able to use VRS discs if they were any better at fade resistance.

The map I've choosen is the Jabba Remap as it's a custom rolling roaded one from what seems to be the most expirienced remappers for VAG cars. I've opted for a boost controller too as it can yeild a few more BHP and I can set it back down to normal boost when I need to let others drive the car.

From all my time reading, if your not going to want too add a exhaust, filter and a upgraded DV then go for the remap now.BUT.If your wanting the exhasut etc get them on first and then get a remap as they take into account all the mods done.

Standard with remap on vRS will get around 215bhp.
Add exhaust, filter and DV then it's will be around 235bhp ( TIP are not recommended by Jabba due to increasing surging ).


For me I need the nice sound of a exhaust and filter first on a car, knowing the remap was on it's way I got them sorted asap.

I think the vRS has 312mm too, but comparing them to the ITR there lethal standard cold! I nearly got caught out the first time I drove it as it just seemed to run out of stopping power! When there warm they are OK, but nothing more than that, as soon as they start to show a little bit more wear and with the extra power a TT Quattro brake system or similar upgrade will be added to the car. Now I'm not sure if the brakes are due to my personal expirience or infact mine aren't as good as they should be, but all the vRS guys seem to upgrade for only around £300 when they have the chance.

Standard is around 7.8s, but even after modding it from 180bhp to 240bhp it won't see much better than around 6.5s ( maybe quicker as it can do 70mph in 2nd ) but thats not what the car is set out to do, it's the once rolling that is becomes a serious Q car.
