I haven't found any posts on this topic, so here goes.

I want to convert DVDs I own with episodes of a series to MP4 for playback on a smart tv. To do this properly means including menus that allow the selection of individual episodes and subtitles to be turned on or off. That can only be done if the master VIDEO_TS.ifo file in the VIDEO_TS folder is read/converted. The other .ifo files only reference the VOB files of particular episodes which convert as separate videos, but it is hard to see what is gained by converting them as the same can be achieved by converting the VOB files directly, which doesn't solve the problem.

I have found many conversion apps that hint at being able to read/convert master .ifo files but I haven't found one that can actually do so, despite having wasted a lot of money on ones that appear to claim that they can. To qualify that, there is one that can (or so I’m led to believe): AVS. But that only runs under Windows. I am using Macs.

Can anyone throw light on this?
