Just had an email from a friend....

Got a question for you....oh what a shocker it's about computers...I have all these videos I have taken with my video camera and the quality is brilliant and the sizes of them are huge so in order for me to put them on my website I need to compress them...how do I do that??????

If *I* were going to do it I'd try windows movie maker or AutoGK but if I say she's blonde I think you'll get the idea (and I'm not going to offend her too much) ;)

From memory I think she's just got a Mac (will check model) and know nothing about the software available, is this going to complicate matters?

What format are the movies in currently?

It might be worth checking out Handbrake. I know it can convert VOB to divx, xvid etc and is fairly easy to use with presets for iPod, iPhone etc.

No idea what format they're in, I'll get more details. Was hoping someone might say "Get <insert program name here>, it'll convert any format to any other format..............and even a blondie could work it" ;)

Handbrake looks good, thanks for the suggestion :)
